Krésha Bajaj, is a Mumbai-based fashion designer. She has spent seven years studying fashion at the London College of Fashion, Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA. In 2014, she showcased her collection at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
Koëcsh was launched as a fashion retail site and has transitioned into a bespoke Western and bridal wear label for women. Under the brand, Krésha developed the concept of ‘Lovestory Lehengas’, in which she portrays a couple’s journey through embroidery. The unique concept won Krésha widespread media recognition, with local and global publications such as My Modern Met, Vogue India, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Times of India, The Economic Times and Cosmopolitan UK writing about it.
Krésha has an avant-garde and edgy design style, one that tests the barriers and boundaries of traditional design. Her style of design is bold and she leans towards modern silhouettes. Krésha has also expanded her repertoire to western and ethnic wear for men under the reputed 40-year-old label BadaSaab, established by her father, Kishor Bajaj.
Meet The Designer
Growing up in the world of fashion, I always knew that I never wanted to do anything else. The goal was to study fashion! Not just for a year or two, drawing and trying to sketch cool stuff that I might just be able to attempt making. The goal was to understand every step; from conceptualizing, researching, sketching, illustrating, sourcing, technically creating to actually understand pattern making, grading, sewing as well as the business side of it. Always being somewhat of a control freak, I never wanted to be dependent on someone carrying out my vision and doing it wrong. So I went to London College of Fashion, Parsons New York, Parsons Paris and FIDM Los Angeles.
‘Traditions have always played an important part in all that I do, since quality and perfection are constant traditions of my family, I knew I had to bring something new to the table. So Koëcsh was born out of the love for curiosity, collectability and passion.’
Indian fashion sensibilities are getting more refined and global, and I’ve waited to offer a product that strikes on all aesthetics values, price and quality. All things Koëcsh are edgy, cool, fashion forward. My quest for the name of the brand began during my early days of fashion school. All my friends call me Krésh. I wanted a word that had no meaning, no visual attached to it, a clean slate. I wanted the consumer to be able to create their own image when they thought of Koëcsh. The ‘Company of Krésh’ slowly emerged as Koëcsh.
The Koëcsh studio showcases the Koëcsh Bridal and Pret collections as well as the BadaSaab Menswear collection. Located in Bandra, the studio has been in existence for over 40 years. Clients are entertained in the lounge where they can consult with our team over tea and coffee.
